Meet Chef Angie

Who is Chef Angie?

You may recognize Chef Angie as one of the finalists in Rachel Ray’s All-Star Edition of “Hey, Can You Cook?  Competing with other chefs on the Food Networks Hit Show Cutthroat Kitchen and on the famed Chopped series.  If not then you may have seen her cooking throughout the country. Now she’s sharing her creative culinary skills with all of us at Lucky Leo’s Sweet Shop.   

For the past few weeks, Chef Angie has hosted several kids candy workshops on our newly opened promenade.  The first workshop was Edible Sand Art, where kids created super cool sand art in a jar, that they can use on cupcakes, ice cream or wherever they want to add more magic. 

Additional ideas to use Edible Sand Art in could be:

  • Rim juice cups with syrup, dip into the edible sand, fill with your kid’s favorite drink.
  • Perfect food craft for kids parties or to give as favors.
  • Mix into sugar cookies for more fun.

Excited yet? Our next workshop; Candy Cupcake Wars became an instant kid favorite.  In this workshop Chef Angie showed the kids how to build a cupcake using a variety of supplies such as rainbow frosting, candies and edible sand.  The possibilities with this one are endless.  Both the parents and the kids had a blast.  I don’t know who had more fun? Sometimes you need to mix it up and what better way than with Candy Sushi.  Chef Angie showed us how to make a sweet sushi using melted butter, marshmallows, rice krispies and Lucky Leo’s Sweet Shop candies.  The result was pure Heaven.  All the kids loved this one including Lillian and Marlo. These girls were smitten.  I’d say Chef Angie completely nailed it with Candy Sushi.  What do you think?  Just look at the photos to see all the excitement.
